Perspectives on COVID-19 with Prof. Eric Kennedy

Coronavirus has without a doubt changed the lives of many, and in this video Eric Kennedy, assistant professor in the Disaster and Emergency Management program, discusses the significance of social interventions which have helped to teach people a new way of life.

As a recipient of a rapid research funding grant, Kennedy acknowledges the quick action from SSHRC and the Tri-Council for approving grants in order for researches to begin as soon as possible. The researched data is of particular value to our provincial and municipal authorities when it comes to decision-making.

“Most of the tools we currently have available to control COVID-19 are social ones,” says Kennedy. “By learning how Canadians are adopting these behaviours, hearing how the disease is impacting them, and better understanding the wide ranges of views on this crisis, we can create a stronger, more effective, and more inclusive response.”
