BAS: 120 Credits - Specialized Honours

The name of our Bachelor of Administrative Studies (BAS) degree is changing to the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom). It is a change in name only, and in no way impacts any of the rigorous requirements of the existing program, nor its excellence, and will only increase respect for the designation.

The BAS Specialized Honours business program allows students to specialize in one of the following areas:

  • Accounting
    Students gain specialized knowledge in managerial accounting, income taxation, finance, auditing and analysis in addition to general business and management practices. The program prepares students for the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Business Research
    Students learn survey design, data collection and interpretation, quantitative measurement, market and decision analysis and information systems design.
  • Finance
    Students gain the knowledge and skills needed to work toward two major designations with the finance field: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Financial Planner(CFP).
  • Human Resource Management
    Students develop knowledge of workplace productivity, safety and equity legislation, labour management relations, hiring, compensation and retention issues.
  • Information Technology (BAS ITEC)
    Integrates and combines information management and business. Students can specialize in one of three streams: Business Systems Analysis, E-Commerce Development or Information technology Auditing & Assurance.
  • Management
    Provides students with a solid foundation in marketing, human resources management, finance and strategic planning.
  • Management Science
    Prepares students to address the unique and complex issues organizations face in their short-term and long-term strategic planning.
  • Marketing
    Students gain practical knowledge in all aspects of the field, including product management, advertising and communications, market research and consumer behaviour.

BAS: 90 Credits

This 90-credit program provides a comprehensive review of business disciplines, as well as general management practices in the Canadian business context.
