Accounting Area

The name of our Bachelor of Administrative Studies (BAS) degree is changing to the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom). It is a change in name only, and in no way impacts any of the rigorous requirements of the existing program, nor its excellence, and will only increase respect for the designation.

Our research-active faculty in the Accounting Area has a diverse research profile, encompassing various fields such as capital markets, information system and managerial accounting, auditing, law and taxation. Many of our faculty have been trained in both empirical and behavioural research in prestigious universities.

Our program offerings include our popular BAS accounting honours accounting stream and an accounting certificate.  These programs prepare students for various fields of accountancy, including public practice, controllership, and general managerial accounting. Many of our students go on to obtain a professional designation or advanced degree. The program provides sufficient courses to meet the degree credit course requirements for CPA PREP exemptions and allows students for direct entry to CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).

The accounting stream of this degree is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge in a variety of accounting areas, along with broad management knowledge.

Master in Financial Accountability (MAFc)

Addressing the complex challenges arising from rapid changes in the financial reporting environment, Master in Financial Accountability (MFAc) program is designed primarily as a part-time program to accommodate the needs of working professionals.
